The library is part of the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative, and it offers an online catalog, a bookstore, eight meeting rooms, a makerspace, an outdoor garden, and a children's room. It is one of the best branches in the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library system and also offers an early learning HIVE, a children's library, free Wi-Fi and curbside pickup. Its staff offers computer training for teens and children. In addition, the library is open Monday through Saturday.
Riverview Public Library was opened in 1999 and was originally located two miles away on Riverview Drive. Later on, it was moved to 9951 Balm Riverview Road, where a new building was established to meet the needs of the area's fastest growing community. The new building was built by the Riverview Library Association on land donated by the Gardinier Corporation. The library's new building has a sloped roof that will allow solar panels to be installed on the roof. It also features an outdoor garden, a screened-in reading porch, a 5,000-square-foot children's room, and lots of play areas for kids to explore and play.
Today, the new building designed by FleischmanGarcia Architecture features an "old Florida grandeur" style that combines light, airy colors with richer wood finishes. It also features a terrazzo floor mural that flows from the main entranceway to the lobby hall. The library's entranceway also includes a series of stained glass windows depicting manatees.
In addition to the library’s look, it manages a bookstore and a vending machine, and it also offers after-hours book drops. The library also features a recording studio with two editing suites and a children's classroom where kids learn about technology as well as the city’s history. In addition, there is free internet access throughout the building and the ability to request, borrow, and return books and materials at all partner libraries.
Teens and children of the neighborhood enjoy free computer training in the library, as well as online access to the library's catalog and other resources. Adults are not left out either, as there are many spaces and spots for reading and researching, as well as a family-friendly restroom. And if you want, you can borrow and return laptops as well. No matter what you need in a library, be sure to find it at Riverview Public Library. The library is the place to go if you want to go to a beautiful, welcoming place to find the right book.
When you’ve had enough quiet time indoors at the library, enjoy a little time outside at Triple Creek Nature Preserve.
